We are excited to announce, that Alpiq is currently looking for a new Market Risk Manager. This role is ideal for somebody, who is equally passionate about numbers and analytics, as well as people. The combination of technical market risk analysis on one hand, and close business partnering with our energy traders on the other, makes this a truly unique opportunity. Some previous experience in risk management would be ideal, but we are open to different backgrounds and levels of seniority, so if you can play on both sides of the equation, we are more than happy to hear from you. The role is to be based at either Olten or Lausanne and reports directly to our Head of Market & Quantitative Risk Management.


Your main responsibilities 

  • Risk reporting and supervision of market risk limits and hedging strategies
  • Supporting the development of risk models
  • Close interaction with Trading and Mid Office to understand positions and activities
  • Pre-deal closure analysis of risks and impacts, particularly of long-term or non-standard transactions
  • Enhancing our reports, tools and interfaces to the business
  • Supporting liquidity risk management


Your qualifications 

  • Higher education in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Science, Mathematics, Economics, Finance)
  • At least 2 years of working experience as a risk manager or similar in a trading environment, ideally related to energy markets
  • Excellent analytical skills and advanced knowledge of risk metrics, option theory and understanding of commodity markets
  • Experience in Python, SQL and interest in enhancing our infrastructure is a big plus
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Fluency in English required, any additional language an advantage
