Functional Business Analyst Trading (f/m/d)

This function reports to the COO Trading and will be key in realizing the transformation and future ambitions of Alpiq’s Trading Division. The COO team is a dynamic and growing group of professionals located over the 3 trading locations of Alpiq. The team drives strategic business change, trade support operations, new product development and is instrumental in solving operational, commercial, and strategic issues facing the business. In this role you will work closely with front office, analysts, middle office, risk management and IT.
Main Responsibilities:
- Engaging with front office, analysts, middle office, risk, IT and other functions to deliver continuous improvement and new features.
- Identify, understand, and translate existing gaps and dependencies into clear functional business requirements with the goal of improving data management, trading systems and
- trading architecture, analytics, and business processes for front office.
- Laying out the functional requirements for new business opportunities and drive implementation together with IT in the relevant trading systems.
- Project Management
- Becoming the functional knowledge expert on our core systems
Your Profile:
- Minimum 5 years of proven work experience in the energy trading domain, in either a trading house with physical power or trading/utility/energy consulting firm. Ideally in the role of a Business Analyst.
- In-depth knowledge of front-to-back end-to-end processes involved in trading financial and physical power and gas in the European energy market.
- Project management experience in projects involving stakeholders from different business areas.
- Experience with electronic trading platforms and exchange/trading venue connectivity, expertise in algorithmic trading is advantageous
- Master’s degree and a strong, all-round knowledge of IT, ETRM, and software integration/development.
- Highly collaborative: able to build relationships with traders, quants, IT, …
- Outstanding written communication skills and ability to respond rapidly, and analytically, to situations as they arise.
- Key required skills: analytic and structured thinker, result oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Additional relevant skills: international mindset, determination, resilience, and team spirit.
- Languages: full proficiency in English, any other language is an advantage
