The Cloud Excellence Lead is a newly created, senior role responsible for establishing and steering the overarching Cloud Strategy across both IT and business domains within the organization. This role demands deep collaboration with senior business and IT stakeholders to develop a cloud strategy that not only aligns with but actively supports the broader business strategy. This role is a great fit for somebody with both the technical understanding as well as the influencing skills and personal gravitas to drive change. The role is to be based in Olten, Switzerland, and will lead the implementation of a Cloud Center of Excellence consisting of members from both business and IT.

 

Your main responsibilities and objectives

  • Establish a cloud strategy and a Cloud Center of Excellence that integrate with and accelerates the company’s business strategy. Lead strategic planning sessions, workshops, and discussions to ensure alignment across all levels of the organization
  • Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with business unit leaders, and key IT stakeholders. Regularly communicate cloud strategy progress, benefits, and adjustments to ensure ongoing alignment with business objectives and stakeholder expectations
  • Design and implement comprehensive cloud governance models that address security, compliance, cost management, and resource optimization. Ensure these frameworks support agile development practices while maintaining control and visibility
  • In collaboration with application and infrastructure leaders define initiatives for the modernization and migration of legacy systems to cloud environments
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement, ensuring teams are proficient in the latest cloud technologies and methodologies
  • Support the management of strategic partnerships with cloud service providers and technology vendors to ensure the organization benefits from the best possible terms, technologies, and services
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive set of KPIs and metrics to measure the effectiveness of the cloud strategy. Use insights gained to iteratively refine strategic directions and initiatives

 

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years focused on cloud computing strategies, application modernization, and cloud infrastructure management
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing cloud strategies in a large, complex organization
  • Experience with working in a Cloud Center of Excellence
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS and Azure), cloud-native architectures, DevOps practices, and application modernization techniques
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience in vendor and stakeholder management within a cloud computing context
  • Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are highly desirable
  • A general understanding of the trading and/or energy sectors will be an advantage
  • Fluent in English; competency in German and French is advantageous
