The Alpiq corporate IT infrastructure services is responsible for the successful development and operations of the IT infrastructure at Alpiq. This comprises workplace & collaboration, classical infrastructure core services (e.g., servers, cloud, network, voice, end user computing) as well as support/helpdesk. This role requires a result-oriented and collaboration-driven leader who contributes to the continuous development of cost efficient and reliable IT infrastructure stack and services. As a head of infrastructure services you own the leadership in IT infrastructure knowledge and business understanding. You ensure the resilience, business orientation and harmonization of the group-wide IT infrastructure. Overall, you are a natural player when it comes to steering IT asset management program and managing the operation of infrastructure services. To excel in this position, the head of infrastructure services needs to be an exceptional communicator and relationship building skills to drive the alignment with business and IT stakeholders. 


Your main responsibilities

  • Set the mission, vision and strategy of the Infrastructure services organization to maximize the success of business and enterprise IT initiatives 
  • Introduce innovative, differentiating infrastructure capabilities that enhance the overall competitive capabilities as well as employee productivity 
  • Build successful stakeholder relationships with other IT and business key stakeholders by developing a clear understanding of business needs, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring cost-effective delivery of IT infrastructure services to meet those standards 
  • Define, develop and manage a comprehensive and integrated IT service management (ITSM) landscape based on best-practices processes, disciplines and related tools sets. This includes delivery of a comprehensive IT asset management program 
  • Improve IT resilience by executing strategies that improve reliability, tolerability and disaster recovery readiness (focus on not only infrastructure services, but also services to be provided to business-oriented application services) 
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for the full life-cycle of IT systems, work in close partnership with peers, and identify where common approaches, solutions and shared platforms provided by infrastructure services could drive efficiency 
  • Drive the adoption of (and commitment towards) service improvements through a programmatic approach to continuous improvement which also measures impact and shares results 
  • Ensure the smooth operation of infrastructure services, incl. workplace & collaboration, Support/Helpdesk and infrastructure core services (comprising infrastructure such as servers, cloud and network as well as basic services such as IAM) 
  • PR: Orchestrate and manage the annual DRP with continuous improvement of single points of failures and RTO & RPO 
  • Reduce the number of data centers within ALPIQ 
  • Strong financial aptitude to reduce the cost to service the business, hold business case holders accountable for their usage and commitments 
  • Drive for end user application rationalization, cost effective use of end user technology assets 
  • Provide end user computing performance management KPIs on NPS, user adoption, value to the business 
  • Ensure end user computing tool futuring and surveillance to ensure no obsolescence of End User roadmap 
  • Collaborate with licensing, cyber security and architecture teams 


Your qualificiations

  • Min. 10 years of professional experience in IT and IT infrastructure services with at least 5 years of leadership responsibilties covering strategy, budgeting and staffing 
  • Strong expertise in the energy market and its specific impact on infrastructure services (incl. trading) preferred
  • Strong expertise in infrastructure services covering workplace & collaboration, infrastructure core services (e.g., servers, cloud) and support/helpdesk
  • In-depth understanding of IT processes, IT-systems and infrastructure architecture 
  • In-depth understanding of cloud platforms, cost efficiency for cloud, different drivers of cost and implications of cloud vendor pricing on decisions and overall budget plans 
  • Strong communicator and relationship builder both with business stakeholders and within the IT organization and the infrastructure service, in particular 
  • Excellent coordination and alignement skills to interface across units wthin the Alpiq organization (e.g., international countries) and effectively manage stakeholders 
  • Results-oriented approach with a strong performance history of delivery (on-time, to-quality and in-budget) 
  • Proven track record inplanning and running (multiple) large-scale IT infrastructure transformation and service projects/portfolios
