The unit IT Operations in Alpiq's Corporate IT department is responsible for the overall IT service quality and the end-to-end service quality in particular. The head of IT Operations carries the ownership for creating the framework and processes to ensure service quality along the different IT departments. In this role, you will ensure that IT provides optimally running IT services to business units and that any problems that might occur are resolved as quickly and efficiently as possible. You will oversee, monitor and continuously improve the performance of IT operations. To excel in this position, the head of operations needs to be an exceptional communicator and be equipped with an agile and collaborative mindset to drive the implementation of best practices, standards and processes. The role reports directly to Alpiq's CTTO/CIO. 


Your main responsibilities

  • Take over the overall and end-to-end reponsibility for the operation of all Alpiq’s IT servcies. 
  • Define and establish standards and processes for IT operations to be applied by all other IT units 
  • Establish appropriate IT operations toolset to ensure that the defined standards and processes are optimally supported 
  • Continuously develop the maturity of IT operations to improve efficiency, reliability/stability as well as best-practice sharing amongst the different IT units 
  • Coordinate the required activities to ensure that problems in service quality are resolved 
  • Provide training to the organization for the application of the IT operations standards, processes and tools 
  • Drive for Alpiq wide process rationalization, cost effective use support organization, reduction and increase of support linked with business expectations and SLA’s 
  • Establish performance management on KPIs Time to resolve, time to proceed, business critical, root cause analysis and remediation, tight change advisory board governance with a focus on the value to the business of the support organization 
  • Implement risk surveillance to ensure no obsolescence of technology roadmap 
  • Collaborate with data owners, licensing, cyber security and architecture teams 
  • Perform ALPIQ wide annual disaster recovery, and business critical event management 


Your qualifications

  • Min. 8 years of professional experience in IT operations 
  • In-depth understanding of IT processes, standards and industry best practices 
  • Strong expertise in the energy market (incl. trading) preferred
  • Proven track record in IT operation monitoring and optimzation 
  • Min. 5-year experience in leading and motivating successful team 
  • Analytical, KPI-driven, independent way of working coupled with a high degree of service orientation 
  • Results-oriented approach with a strong history of delivery 
  • Outstanding communicator to ensure application of standards and processes in all IT units 
  • Operational skills in the analysis of logging outputs in various systems (preferred in energy-related systems 
  • Highly agile mindset and independent working mode in collaboration with other IT unit leaders
