To contribute to our growth and further shape our activities, we are launching our very first Graduate Program specific to our Trading department. This Program has been designed to accompany junior talents along the journey to discover the vibrant and complex energy trading environment. During these 18 months training program you will be assigned to 3 exciting missions contributing to the success of Alpiq Trading activities and enabling you to connect to and discover the excellence of Alpiq Front desks and the most closely related support functions. The earliest program start date will be in Fall 2023. 

 

Alpiq’s portfolio of assets consists of flexible assets (power and gas) and new renewable power assets. We are committed to delivering energy transition and managing the increased complexity that comes with this change. The Trading Division acts as the central risk management platform for the market risk of the Alpiq group and is comprised of energy traders who manage the firm’s own assets as well as third party supply and asset offtakes. 

 

What we offer

  • Throughout this program you will rotate across 3 exciting missions. In each mission you will be directly integrated into a different trading department among Asset-backed Trading, Intraday, Gas Trading, Proprietary Trading, Structuring Energy Management, Quant & Market analysis. The overall program objective is to offer you a wide-ranging exposure within the trading business unit and its most relevant support functions.
  • We will be right there with you on your journey! A Mentor from the management team will coach you throughout these 18 months and a Buddy from our growing pool of young talents will provide you with hands-on support and ease your integration.
  • With your missions you will support daily trading operations and contribute to continuous improvements and projects.
  • In addition to the business activities, the program will include multiple training opportunities off the job tailored to your needs and focused on supporting the take-off of your career at Alpiq.  

 

Your Profile

  • Master’s degree in Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Computational Science, Data Science, Physics, Energy Engineering, Finance or similar. The successful candidate will have to have completed his/her Master’s Degree by the start date at Alpiq. 
  • Strong interest, passion and genuine motivation to explore the energy trading environment and eagerness to expand your knowledge during the program. 
  • An internationally oriented mindset, excellent communication skills along with analytical thinking, proactivity and capacity to thrive in a fast-changing environment are key. 
  • Determination, resilience, and team spirit will make you succeed in this role. 
  • Being empathetic, results-oriented, and flexible are your additional assets. 
  • Availability to work in Olten or Lausanne. 
  • Full proficiency in English, additional languages (French, German, others) are a plus. 
  • Swiss or EU passport (unfortunately we cannot sponsor non-EU Visas for this role).
