Central to Alpiq’s strategy is a growing and dynamic energy trading, sales and origination business which relies on cutting edge IT services and applications to compete and succeed.


We are an international team of software developers, software engineers, solution architects & project managers whose mission is to build and maintain Alpiq’s IT services and applications for energy trading, sales and origination.


We are looking for Data Engineers to build, evolve and manage the data platform to support a data hungry business. You will analyze requirements of traders and analysts, ensuring their needs are anticipated by our solutions.

Your main responsibilities

  • Develop and manage our data platform, including the integration of existing systems, in close collaboration with technical disciplines and business users
  • Collaborate with business and stakeholders and teams to drive solutions that meet their needs
  • Participate in the definition of standard data management and data architecture processes and deliverables
  • Drive data standardisation, simplification and scalability, lowering cost, improving quality and value of data assets


Your qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree
  • 1-2 Years of experience in Data Engineering
  • 3-5 Years of professional experience in programming (Java and or Python)
  • Solid understanding of database structure and design principles including dimensional modelling
  • Proficiency in translating and analyzing data, understanding event driven data concepts
  • Hands on engineering of CI/CD aspects, with a focus on increasing automation
  • Strong analytical thinking, strong interest to understand business user needs and ability to translate requirements into technical specifications
  • Proficiency in English is a must, German and / or French would be an advantage
