Chief Procurement Officer (f/m/d)

At Alpiq, we are currently looking for a new CPO. This great role, which manages currently 9 people across different locations and will ultimately manage a spend of over 200 Million CHF, is a great opportunity for an experienced procurement lead to implement various best practices and increase the maturity of the function. As we continue on our path to becoming a leading European energy boutique and with our significant contributions to sustainability and the energy transition, the role offers plenty of excitement, be it by supporting our growth in the hydrogen business or by optimizing procurement in our IT and data heavy commodity trading environment. Ideally, this role is to be based at our offices in Olten Switzerland. It reports directly to Alpiq’s Head Corporate Services and Executive Board Member Alexandra Machnik.
Your main responsibilities
- Establishing and managing procurement policy, strategy and governance
- Designing, implementing and managing the category management approach, first for indirect procurement and later on for power generation categories
- Introducing best in class supplier relationship management across businesses in Europe, together with Alpiq’s key internal stakeholders in the business divisions
- Driving procurement activities and performance with value to Business (Total Cost of ownership / Supply chain resilience / Supplier performance and Quality / Lead-time etc.)
- Reporting strategic initiatives and KPIs to top management to demonstrate improvements, establishing a procurement dashboard, etc.
- Instilling a high-performance team culture, based on strong business partnering, measurable KPIs and inclusiveness
Your main qualificiations
- Higher education, engineering degree preferred
- Proven leadership experience with ability to drive initiatives in a multicultural environment
- More than 10 years of experience in category management in direct and indirect categories and solid experience in procurement strategy
- Ideally previous knowledge of the energy business, power generation, trading or other relevant businesses
- Strong strategic vision and planning
- Above-the-average communication and influencing skills, ability to drive cross-functional change
- Fluency in English, German and French appreciated
