The Desk Strategist is to support the short- and long-term asset trading teams in the development of trading strategies and the development of the information flow to traders. The role is multifaceted in that it requires both fundamental understanding of Fuels, Emissions and Power markets.

 

Your Main Responsibilities: 

  • Developing, maintaining, and commenting a set of quantitative European power models
  • Developing and communicating views about the energy market (power, coal, gas emissions) 
  • Market Monitoring
  • Having the ability to build and develop decision support tools (incl. experience in data management and data collection via API etc., forecasting and/or optimization techniques) is considered crucial as well. Further, it is important that the Strategist is able to build and maintain strong relationships to other analysts and market experts within the company.
  • Finally, an understanding and interest in trading is vital as is the ability to work under time pressure. 

 

Your Profile:

  • Ideally at least 5+ years of experience in power markets and good understanding of global fuel markets 
  • Good experience with developing quantitative modelling on power 
  • Great ability to turn analysis into trading strategies
  • Data management experience and knowledge of databases
  • Strong programming skills in Python
  • Good team player and excellent communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and proactive approach
  • Fluency in English, French or German considered an advantage
